Qualsiasi atto di violenza e intolleranza va condannato. Mi sembra ovvio. Ma se avete mai avuto occasione di conoscere qualche francescano vi sarete subito resi conto della loro estrema cordialità e disponibilità. Sono bonaccioni per natura e davvero portatori di pace. Soprattutto nei loro atteggiamenti.

Among my friends there are many Franciscans. Some of the live and teach in Jerusalem. As soon as you know them, you immediately realize that they really are men of peace. They are merry and friendly people who reject fundamentalism and work for tolerance and cohabitation among Jews, Muslims and Christians in the Holy Land and elsewhere.

How sad then to read Rosario Pierri’s letter on how they were insulted and got spit in Jerusalem streets by Orthodox Jews yesterday.
